"Unita Transruhrika", "Brass forever!" or "La rue est à Atemgold" - these are the headlines when schwarz/rot Atemgold 09 rocks streets, squares and stages. Powerful, danceable, party-ready through styles and scenes: Balkan beats in Funkhaus Europa, sound experiments in industrial ruins, ska in the Wild East or cumbia on the Rhine-Herne Canal. Atemgold 09 plays urban brass with pulsating percussion and driving brass sections.  

black/red Atemgold 09 plays RUHRSKAWORLDJAZZBRASS, inspired internationally and locally by its origins, the Ruhrpott in the heart of Europe. Atemgold 09 sets out from here, always in search of inspiration and communication. At times they conquer the local and rifle club scene, only to later confuse jazz purists in established jazz clubs.

schwarz/rot Atemgold 09 has performed at traditional festivals such as the Fête des Fleurs, the Ruhr Triennale, the Extraschicht, the dance and folk festival in Rudolstadt and the Moers Jazz Festival. At the same time, the Ruhr village band supports political initiatives and social movements. 

The name black/red Atemgold 09 is an "invention of tradition" at its best and for 40 years now has played tongue-in-cheek with the colors "black/red" as the colors of the feather ornaments on the miners' hats of the Ruhrkohle Choir, which are also the colors of anarcho-syndicalism; with "Atemgold" as the name of a cough drop (wind instruments!) and with a reference to a traditional founding year 09. Thus the band keeps the tradition of the old miners' orchestras of the Ruhr area alive in its name.
